Coordination problems and delays are dogging preparations for the 2004 Athens Olympics, the International Olympic Committee said in a letter to the Greek organisers disclosed today.
"Implementation of the projects for stadiums and related infrastructure work continues to be a cause of concern," IOC chief inspector Denis Oswald wrote to Gianna Angelopoulos, head of the Athens 2004 Organising Committee (ATHOC).
A source close to ATHOC said the government was aware of the letter that was reported in the Kathimerinidaily.
In it, Oswald said construction of more than 10 projects was behind schedule.
The letter, dated October 5th, summed up his last inspection at the end of September. The IOC inspection team is due back in Greece on November 21st.
The Greek government has repeatedly stressed the problems will be resolved.
