European data centre operator Interxion is to invest €12 million in a new Dublin-based data centre.
The company said it was expanding to meet increased customer demand for energy-efficient but high-power-density colocation infrastructure and outsourced managed services.
The Dutch-based firm is planning a number of expansion projects, following the completion of a €45 million subordinated credit facility.
The first phase of the 2,455 sq m centre is expected to be open by April 2010.
"This strategic investment is a great endorsement of the health of the Irish data centre business," said Tanya Duncan, managing director, Interxion Ireland.
"As the benefits of outsourcing to data centres have become widely accepted in Ireland over the past few years, demand has helped us to grow our capacity while maintaining a strong focus on quality processes and environmental performance."
teh company said its business has grown 50 per cent year on year, driven by telecoms providers, enterprises and other technology companies seeking carrier and vendor-neutral infrastructure.
