Gardaí in Galway are investigating three alleged sexual assaults in the city and county which were reported in the course of the past week.

Three men were arrested following a report that a young woman was assaulted at the Galway racecourse in Ballybrit on August 2nd.

Two of the three men were questioned at Galway Garda station and the third was questioned in Athlone, Co Westmeath, and later released.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, according to a Garda spokesman.

Investigations are still continuing into a separate reported sexual assault in the city in early August.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Ballinasloe have initiated inquiries into an alleged assault in the town in the early hours of last Monday, August 6th.

Gardaí are anxious to speak to witnesses or residents of Hymany, Curragh Park, Ester Hills Estate or the Dunlo Hill areas of Ballinasloe who may have seen anything suspicious.
