Paul Simon Griffin, of Rostrevor Terrace, Orwell Road, Rathgar, who celebrated his 16th birthday on Tuesday, was visiting the town as part of a school group. He was a student of St Mary's College, Rathmines, and was due to visit Delphi Adventure Centre, Co Mayo, later in the week.

He and his friends were watching the Ireland v Argentina rugby match on television when he suddenly fell to the floor. He was pronounced dead by Dr Siobhan Horgan at 10.45 p.m. Sgt Willie Keaveney, of Westport Garda station, said the matter was still under investigation. An inquest is to be held.
