A 62-year-old man is in hospital in the North with injuries consistent with being hit and dragged by a car.

The man who cannot remember what happened to him is suffering from hip fractures, abrasions and friction burns. Medical experts believed he was knocked down and dragged along a road by a vehicle.

It is believed the man left a pub in Burren near Warrenpoint, Co Down at 1.15 a.m on Saturday. He was later found injured on Milltown St by a friend.

The RUC is appealing for witnesses.
