England’s Darren Gough has been ruled out of the second Test against India at Trent Bridge.
The Yorkshire pace bowler was forced out of the opening Test, which begins at Lord's tomorrow, on Monday when he suffered pain and stiffness in his right knee during the Roses match at Headingley.
That was his first first-class match since having keyhole surgery in April.
In fact, he has not played anything other than a one-day game for 11 months.
He has been advised to rest for two weeks after visiting a specialist in Sheffield yesterday.
It is hoped that the designated fortnight will be enough time for the inflammation to subside.
He will see the specialist again at the end of that period for a further re-assessment of the injury and it is hoped that he will be given the all-clear to resume training thereafter.
