Injunction on paper is lifted

An injunction restraining the Limerick Leader newspaper from publishing defamatory material concerning Father William G

An injunction restraining the Limerick Leader newspaper from publishing defamatory material concerning Father William G. Fox or the Franciscan Order in Ireland was vacated in the High Court yesterday.

Mrs Justice McGuinness was told that all differences between the parties had been settled.

An action against Mr John Moloney, of Moyvane, Shelbourne Road, Limerick, restraining him from publishing defamatory material concerning Father Fox or the Franciscan Order in Ireland, was adjourned until the new law term in October. Mr Roddy Horan, counsel for Father Fox and the order, said a dispute had arisen out of a settlement of court proceedings about a will by the late Gerard Moloney, Kinvara, North Circular Road, Limerick, in which he had left £500,000 worth of property to the benefit of the order.

Father Fox in an affidavit told the court he was of the opinion John Moloney, who had been left £10,000 in the will, was attempting to blackmail the order by threatening to go to the national press and the tabloids.
