The police informer at the centre of the row between the Chief Constable and the Ombudsman over the Omagh bombing is under a death threat, a judge was told yesterday in Belfast. Several bullets were sent to the informer.
The man wants to get a gun to protect himself and in the High Court in Belfast he sought a judicial review of Sir Ronnie Flanagan's decision not to grant him a firearms certificate. However, leave was refused by Mr Justice Kerr, who said the application was premature, as a final decision had not been made.
