Inflation rose by half a percentage point in September, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Officethis morning.
Year-on-year, the rate of inflationremains unchanged at 4.5 per cent, more than 2.5 per cent higher than the euro zone average.
Consumer Prices, as measured by the consumer price index, increased by 0.5 per cent in September, marginally higher than the rate of increase for the same month last year.
The main factors contributing to the monthly change were price increases in services including medical and home insurance premiums as well as increases in the cost of, alcohol and clothing and footwear, which rose due to the completion of summer sales.
