Industrial production fell 1.3 per cent in the 12 months to April, according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) today.
The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing Industries for the three month period February to April 2008 was 1.7% lower than in the preceding three month period , according to the data.
The “modern” Sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production for April 2008 of 0.2% while a decrease of 3.6 per cent was recorded in the “traditional” sector.
The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index for manufacturing industries was 4 per cent higher in the three month period February to April 2008 when compared with the preceding three month period.
On an annual basis, turnover was 6.3 per cent lower when compared with April 2007.
