Pakistan said one woman was killed and 25 wounded when Indian forces fired across the disputed border in Kashmir today.
Indian troops launched unprovoked firing in two sectors of the disputed Himalayan region, using artillery and mortar bombs, military spokesman Major-General Rashid Qureshi said.
He said Pakistani troops responded by retaliatory firing at Pokhnia on what he called the working boundary near the Pakistani district of Sialkot and along the Line of Control in Rawalakot sector.
There was no information about Indian casualties in the clash, reported shortly after US Secretary of State Colin Powell arrived in Islamabad on his first overseas trip since the September 11 attacks and which will also take him to India.
