Injunction on Labour Court hearing lifted
The High Court has lifted an injunction which had prevented the Labour Court hearing an application to vary a registered employment agreement setting pay and conditions for about 10,000 electricians.
However, Mr Justice Daniel O'Keeffe said the full court challenge by contractors to the agreement should be heard as soon as possible.
If that challenge succeeds, it could affect wages and conditions for hundreds of thousands of workers in other sectors governed by such registered agreements.
Developer settles €800,000 case
A developer has settled High Court proceedings in which he claimed some €800,000 was mistakenly paid to his solicitor. The lawyer in question recently resolved a €1 million deficit in his client account.
Jerry O'Donovan, Ballyboughal, Co Dublin, had sought a court order to have €800,000 returned because, he said, the money was wrongly or mistakenly paid to solicitor Charles O'Neill. The High Court heard yesterday the matter had been settled.
Mr O'Neill, whose practice is being run by another solicitor following proceedings taken against him by the Law Society, had acted for Mr O'Donovan.

The boy has been number 29 on a waiting list for 10 months for the support education he needs despite his mother's efforts for more than a year to get such services, the court heard.
