Bodies of two women found in Donegal house

THE BODIES of two elderly women were discovered in a house in Glenties, Donegal yesterday evening.

The names of the women, aged 80 and 87, were not released last night. However, both women are believed to be local to the area. A Garda spokesman said that the bodies had been found between 8pm and 9pm yesterday evening by a relative of one of the women.

Initial reports suggest that there may have been a gas leak in the house and gardaí are not treating the deaths as suspicious. The premises was sealed off for technical examination last night and postmortems are expected to be carried out today.

Charlemont residents’ award

Residents of Charlemont Court Senior Citizens' complex in Dublin's south inner city were last night celebrating overall success in the residential section of the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards, writes Tim O'Brien.

The residents also secured first prize for Best Apartment Balconies, and the Endeavour Award for most improved entry.

Walkinstown Association gardening project, was overall winner in the business section.

Residents of De Courcey Square in Glasnevin were successful in the Under 150 Houses section.
