Garda hit with syringe, jury told
A garda has told a jury that a man deliberately struck him in the thumb with a syringe and made stabbing motions with it at his chest as he was trying to remove him from a public toilet cubicle.
Ivan Hendy (24), of Luttrellstown Rise, Carpenterstown, has pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assaulting Garda David Stafford and to possession of heroin at Debenhams, Jervis Centre, on November 7th, 2007.
Remanded on cannabis charge
A man has been remanded in custody after being charged over a €50,000 drugs seizure on the main Cork-Dublin road on Tuesday night.
Aldo Byrne (37) with an address at Forest Avenue, Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, Dublin, was charged with possessing cannabis for sale or supply at Ballinvinny North, Watergrasshill, Co Cork, on February 17th. Judge Uinsinn Mac Gruairc remanded him in custody to appear at Cork District Court next Wednesday.
