Eight dead in Afghan attack
KANDAHAR – An insurgent attack in south Afghanistan killed at least six foreign troops and two Afghan soldiers yesterday, officials said, days before Washington is due to complete a review of its war strategy.
The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force said six troops were killed in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan but declined to give any details or confirm if it was the same incident.
The deaths underline the rising tide of violence days before Barack Obama unveils a White House-led review of his Afghanistan war strategy. – (Reuters)
Liz Hurley splits from husband
LONDON – English model Liz Hurley and her husband Arun Nayar have separated, she said on Twitter yesterday.
The revelation follows reports that she has been having an affair with Australian former cricket star Shane Warne.
She tweeted: “Not a great day.”
“For the record, my husband Arun and I separated a few months ago. Our close family and friends were aware of this.”
Ms Hurley (45), who has an eight-year-old son, Damian, married Indian businessman Nayar three years ago. – (PA)
