Simply Red final gig in London to go out live on Omniplex screens
If “Money's too tight to mention” to go to London for the final performance of 1980s pop sensation Simply Red, you can now catch the gig live at your local cinema.
Using digital projection, Omniplex will be broadcasting the December 19th concert live via satellite at their cinemas in Rathmines, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Belfast, Derry and Newry. While tickets for the O2 Arena gig sold out months ago, fans can catch it in high definition and surround sound.
Fire damage at Dublin pub
A fire which broke out in the Furry Bog pub in Rathfarnham early yesterday caused extensive damage to the premises.
Dublin City Fire Brigade attended the blaze shortly before 5am. Four fire pumps attended the scene of the blaze. There were no injuries.
Minke whale stranded in Kerry
Marine experts and locals gathered at Blackwater on the Kenmare river in Co Kerry yesterday hoping a stranded female minke whale would survive until the tide came in last night. Representatives from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Society and a vet were at the scene.
