Garda suspended after allegation of sexual activity with boy (16)
A serving member of An Garda Síochána based in Munster has been been suspended pending an investigation into alleged inappropriate sexual behaviour with a 16-year-old boy he has befriended, writes Barry Roche.
The officer, who is in his late 20s, was suspended last Friday after gardaí were alerted by a relative of the boy, who comes from a troubled background.
A Garda Superintendent from a neighbouring county has been appointed to investigate the matter. It is understood that investigators are satisfied that the sexual activity was consensual but that the teenager’s age would mean that an offence could have been committed.
