Boy held for further two weeks over Smithfield fair shooting
A 17-year-old youth, who allegedly shot at two men with an “improvised firearm” during Smithfield horse fair in Dublin last month, was further remanded in custody yesterday.
The boy, who is a juvenile and cannot be named, had been charged last week at the Dublin Children’s Court with violent disorder and unlawful possession of an “improvised firearm” in connection with the incident on March 6th.
He had been remanded in custody and appeared again yesterday at the Children’s Court, where Judge John Lindsay was told that the State needed to get directions from the DPP.
The boy was remanded in custody for a further two weeks. No application for bail was made.

Crucial Garda interviews with a Dublin man accused of IRA membership cannot be used as evidence against him, the Special Criminal Court has determined.
The court ruled yesterday that gardaí failed to follow proper procedure when questioning Declan Geraghty (29) on alleged IRA membership and that interviews carried out on this basis were unlawful.
