The Irish Medical Organisation has condemned the Minister for Health for the lack of progress in resolving the public health doctors strike.
In an emergency motion put forward at the IMO's agm delegates said the "threats" made to the posts of nine identifiable members of this organisation was deplorable.
The motion was proposed by Dr Roisin Healy and seconded by Dr Cormac Macnamara. The union passed a second motion calling on all infectious disease emergencies to "be dealt with by public health doctors in a fully professional manner."
Earlier the Minister for Health Mr Martin was criticised the "total abandonment of responsibility by senior staff in the health system in this way [during the strike] is a new departure and one that will need some reflection in thinking through the reconfiguration of functions in the restructuring exercise I have referred to earlier."
