Hewlett-Packard (HP) says its proposed merger with Compaq should be finalised tomorrow.
The announcement comes after independent inspectors certified the company's shareholders have backed the controversial move.
HP will uveil the "new-look" company combined with Compaq on Tuesday next week.
According to the inspectors, there were 839.4 million shares in favour of the deal at its meeting in March, compared to 739.1 million shares which voted against. Abstaining shares numbered close to 14 million.

A bid by Mr Walter Hewlett, a dissident HP board member and son of a company founder who has argued strongly against the deal, to contest the vote failed in the courts earlier this week.
