Restrictions on horse and greyhound racing in the State will be totally removed it was announced by the Minister for Agriculture today.
Mr Joe Walsh said on the basis of recommendations from the Expert Advisory Group on Foot and Mouth Disease controls events involving horses and greyhounds can proceed from June 1st.
Disinfectant procedures will be maintained including the cleaning of vehicles and wiping down of animals with 0.5 per cent solution citric acid.
However, movement restrictions (permits) will continue in relation to horses and greyhounds going to and from the UK including Northern Ireland.
