When the cast of the American TV hit comedy Friends arrived in London last week to film some episodes, they were looking for "a really cool Irish music band" to star in their show.
Dubliner Marc Carroll and his band, the Hormones, were hired to play the wedding music in an up-coming episode.
"It's mad" Marc Carroll (25) said last night. "Apparently the cast had heard our current single, Stay Ahead, and they really wanted to use one of the B sides called Tired Old Souls during the wedding ceremony and they asked us to appear playing it live as well."
The wedding episode, which will be broadcast in the US in May and Europe in June, features the Hormones in tuxedos alongside Jennifer Saunders, Tom Conti and Hugh Laurie. With an estimated TV audience of 100 million viewers, Carroll says it's the sort of break young bands dream of.
The Hormones were formed two years ago and almost immediately signed to Richard Branson's V2 label. Their debut single, Stay Ahead, is in the shops and they release their first album, Where Old Ghosts Meet, in June.
