Viking history brought to life at Dublinia:THE revamped Dublinia heritage centre (next to Christ Church cathedral in Dublin) is bringing history alive over the next four days. Visitors will see Vikings in action, meet a pig catcher and hear tales of death and disease in medieval Dublin (dublinia.ie).
Meanwhile, you can discover the secrets of Viking and medieval Dublin on a new interactive DVD, Medieval Dublin from Vikings to Tudors. On it, you can see medieval city defences grow from wooden fences to stone walls, explore Viking houses and medieval streets, follow the course of the Poddle River and see the daily life of monks (medievaldublin.ie).

Call for financial services with a difference
IT MAY seem a little too late to host a public meeting entitled Making our Money Work for a Better World, but then it’s only in a time of crisis that people are really open to change. The event, at Cultivate, St Andrew Street, Dublin on Wednesday, November 10th from 3pm, will highlight the need for ethically and ecologically sensitive financial services. Speakers include Paul Ellis of the Ecology Building Society, Alex Connor of Triodos Bank and Miles Litvinoff of the Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility. E-mail ecoq@gn.apc.org for details.
