After nearly a week of searches by Limerick gardaí and soldiers from Sarsfield Barracks hopes of finding two brothers abducted at gunpoint by masked men in the city last Thursday have faded with each passing day.
Tomorrow, the garda sub aqua unit will begin a search of a number of lakes in north Limerick, an area where 60 soldiers, the Garda Air Unit and the garda Dog Unit have been concentrating their search for Mr Eddie Ryan, a 20-year-old father of one, and his 19-year old brother Kieran.
They have not been seen since they were abducted walking along Moylish Road, close to their home in Kileely, at 11 p.m.
Supt Willie Keane, who is leading the search, said an area of countryside north of the city and running into Co Clare had been identified for searching when the men went missing.
However, he stressed targeting this area was on the basis of deduction. He said gardai have not yet received any assistance with their investigations.
