Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has branded as "ignorant" those fans who racially abused him during the Champions League match with Portuguese side Boavisto on Wednesday.
Heskey had to withstand constant monkey noises from large sections of Boavista's support, but he claimed he would not let it get to him.
"It does happen a lot in Europe and the fact is I have got used to it - I have had to," said Heskey. "It's sad that this sort of thing goes on".
After the 1-1 draw in Oporto, Liverpool team officials said they will take no further action in the matter.
But Boavista could face sanctions from UEFA if the matter is mentioned in the reports of match officials.
Heskey has often suffered racial abuse over the past two years playing for club and country. It has even led the English FA to lodge official complaints with UEFA.
