The Ulster Unionist Party's sole member of the Westminster parliament, Lady Sylvia Hermon, has been urged to take the leadership of the Ulster Unionist Parliamentary Party.
Lord Kilclooney, the former Strangford MP John Taylor, said there was no need to delay the appointment while the party leadership was decided.
The UUP Parliamentary Party is comprised of MPs and Peers who meet weekly.
Lord Kilclooney - the former Strangford MP John Taylor - said in his opinion the leader must be an MP rather than a Peer as it was in the House of Commons
that the Prime Minister and most cabinet ministers including the Northern
Ireland Secretary answered questions.
Lord Kilclooney said: "I am writing to our only MP, Lady Sylvia Hermon, to
ask her to reconstitute our Parliamentary party so that we may resume our weekly
meetings.
"I hope that Lady Hermon would accept the position of Leader of our Parliamentary Party."
