The Irish Haemophilia Society has called for the immediate publication of the terms of reference of the HIV and Hepatitis C Virus Tribunal of Inquiry. The society says it has had several meetings with the Department of Health since September 1997 and had highlighted areas requiring investigation. It had not yet received even a draft of the proposed terms of reference.
Mr Brian O'Mahony, chairman, said that since their initial discussions on the terms of reference, other tribunals on financial issues had been set up and one completed. "This tribunal is intended to deal with the misappropriation of lives through HIV and Hepatitis C, yet it appears to have a low position on the Government's list of priorities."
