Helicopter firm dispute settled

The dispute at Irish Helicopters Ltd has been settled

The dispute at Irish Helicopters Ltd has been settled. The company wanted to shed 14 jobs after losing its Marathon oil rigs supply contract to Bond Helicopters, an Aberdeen company.

Under the settlement, five of the 14 staff are to be redeployed by IHL and five are to be taken on by Bond Helicopters, which originally said that it would use its own personnel to service the Marathon contract.

Of the four remaining workers, one is reported to be taking legal action over the loss of his job, while the other three have agreed to accept a redundancy package being jointly funded by the two companies. Each will receive four weeks pay plus a minimum of £10,000.
