Hegarty appointed as 'Sunday Tribune' editor

The Sunday Tribune has appointed Noirin Hegarty as its editor to replace Paddy Murray.

The Sunday Tribunehas appointed Noirin Hegarty as its editor to replace Paddy Murray.


Ms Hegarty (left), who has been the deputy editor of the Evening Heraldfor the last seven years, takes up the position with immediate effect.

A statement released this evening by the newspaper said Mr Murray (51), who has been on leave from his position for some time due to health reasons, has now assumed the role of Associate Editor.

Ms Hegarty was front runner for the position. Among those shortlisted for the position were former editor Matt Cooper, Sunday World journalist John Shiels and former Irish Independent reporter Karl Brophy, who now works in South Africa.
