Signed copies of Seamus Heaney's poems are to be sold to fund a new library in Co Clare. The project, announced by the two bishops of Killaloe yesterday, aims to raise £10,000. The library will be housed in a 263 year old former Church of Ireland building in Killaloe.
The Catholic Bishop of Killaloe, Dr William Walsh, said that inviting contributions for signed copies of Mr Heaney's collection of poems was unique and would ensure community support. The Church of Ireland Bishop, the Right Rev Edward Darling, said that it would create a new place of study, learning, peace and reflection within the community.
