Smoke award entry deadline
Monday, April 14th is the deadline for receipt of entries for the second annual Tom Power medal. The award will be given to an individual or group who has shown leadership and vision to reduce smoking in Ireland.

Two awareness campaigns are in full swing. The Snowdrop Campaign, which aims to raise funds for Console, a suicide bereavement counselling service, runs throughout April. IMB issues warning on cough medicine
The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) has pointed out that medicines for use in children under two have never been recommended in the Republic without appropriate advice from a doctor or pharmacist. It states that, while Britain had a range of cough and cold medicines on open sale for under twos, this is not the practice in Ireland. The IMB says parents should contact their doctor or pharmacist if concerned.
