PATIENTS SHOULD have the right to access the best treatment for their condition in Europe, regardless of where they live or how much money they have, according to MEP for Ireland South, Colm Burke.
The Fine Gael MEP was speaking at a conference on European cross-border healthcare in Charleville, Cork at the weekend entitled Your Health and Europe. He outlined his vision of an EU in which the best healthcare is available to all and in which best practices in medical treatment are freely shared.
Mr Burke recently co-authored a report on cross-border healthcare for the European Parliament.
