IF ALL HAS gone according to plan, by the time you read this, Mimi Anderson should be over halfway towards her attempt to break the record for a female runner racing from Malin to Mizen.
Anderson, a 50-year-old grandmother from Kent, was due to set off at 6am on Saturday morning, with the aim of running the 345 miles faster than the current record, earlier this year at four days, one hour, 39 minutes and 55 seconds.
Anderson is already a double world record holder: for the furthest distance covered on a treadmill in seven days by a female (403.81 miles) which was done with a broken toe; and the record for the fastest time by a female for running from John O’Groats to Lands End (840 miles in 12 days, 15 hours, 46 minutes).
Her current run is being done in aid of the Cure Parkinson’s Trust, and her support team of three includes her husband Tim.
She deserves as much support as possible, and you can follow her through her blog at marvellousmimi.com.
