A group of second-year medical students at NUI Galway have developed, in conjunction with Mountaineering Ireland, an information leaflet on high-altitude illness. The leaflet is aimed at trekkers, mountaineers, mountaineering guides and others who travel to high-altitude regions of the world for work or recreation. It provides easily accessible information on the changes that occur in the body at altitude, acclimatisation to altitude, and the recognition, management and prevention of various forms of high-altitude illness. The leaflet is available at highaltitudemedicine.ie
