Cut-rate massage  for carers

The Irish Massage Therapy Association (IMTA) will offer reduced price massage to carers next week as part of its countrywide campaign, Caring for the Carers. Members of the IMTA will, where possible, work from Carers Association Centres.

Those interested should contact their local carer centre or tel: 1800-240724 for more details. A 30-minute back, head and shoulder massage or foot massage/ reflexology will cost €10.

Breastfeeding translations

To coincide with National Breastfeeding Week, Cuidiú – the Irish Childbirth Trust, has translated its breastfeeding support information into six languages. Breastfeeding information is now available on www.cuidiu-ict.ie in Latvian, Lithuanian, Chinese, French, Polish, Romanian, Irish and English.

Mothers and their babies are invited to celebrate the week tomorrow at 11am in the Ikea restaurant, Ballymun. See also www.breastfeeding.ie

Driving Alexander technique around

Teachers of the Alexander technique will take a skeleton around Ireland from Friday next until Saturday, October 17th, to create awareness of this approach to reduce muscle tension and improve balance and posture.

The Alexander technique teachers will give free workshops in centres in Galway, Clare, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Wicklow, Dublin, Westmeath, Sligo and Mayo. Tel: 091-555800 or e-mail info@alexander.ie.

Breast cancer support meeting

Supporting women with secondary breast cancer is the theme of a conference on Saturday, October 17th, from 10am to 3pm in the Davenport Hotel, Dublin 2.

Reiki workshops for beginners
