MINDFULNESS AT WORK EVENT: How mindfulness meditation can bring sanity to our workplace is the provocative title of an event on Friday at 7.30pm in the Cultivate Sustainable Living and Learning Centre, 15-19 Essex Street West, Temple Bar, Dublin. Michael Carroll, management adviser and author, will lead the discussion

Meanwhile, staff at Cultivate have organised a Slow Down Sunday this Sunday, October 22nd. Starting with meditation and relaxation, the day proceeds with a celebration of food and ends with musical movement and guided meditation. Tel: 01 6745773 for more details on both events.

ALZHEIMER HERO DAY: This Friday has been designated National Alzheimer Hero Day by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The society has initiated a new programme for primary school children to mark the event. The "Write-to-Remember" programme invites children to write about the heros in their lives.

STUTTERING AWARENESS: About 1 per cent of the Irish population stutter. International Stuttering Awareness Day takes place this Sunday, October 22nd, giving the opportunity for people who stutter to organise events that will create awareness about the often misunderstood communication disorder.
