Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, GAA All Star, former Cork senior hurler and footballer.
Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
I’d like to think so. I exercise and try to watch what I eat. A lot of that is just being educated from the demands of sport over the years.
How often do you exercise?
With the team it would be three times a week and then I would do my own stuff – stretching and gym work another three days. I’m trying to do more swimming or cycling. I’m at the stage in my 30s now where you have to be smarter about training, and swimming and cycling would have less impact on my joints. I always make sure I have one day where I just down tools and don’t do anything.
Do you get your five a day?
I try to. I’d definitely have a kiwi fruit and a banana every day. I have vegetables with my dinner – my favourites would be mashed carrot and parsnip. I make sure I get my Omega 3 on top of that and take two capsules of Krill oil every day. I’ve always liked fruit and veg, whether that was mum and dad’s good teaching when we were younger, I don’t know.
Do you worry?
Quite often, yes, about work, I worry about my sport and about performing, more particularly coming up to big games – are you prepared, and you’re worried about performing as best as you know you can.
What do you do to relax?
Either catching a movie in the cinema or listening to music. I like Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, RB and Irish traditional music, or I just turn off my phone and throw it under the bed.
What’s your unhealthiest habit?
It would have to be ice cream. I love it, especially the Ben Jerry’s Cookie Dough. I’d try to limit it to once a month but then you end up eating two cartons of it. KFC as well – if you play a game and you’re happy with your performance then you feel you deserve a treat.
