Jacqui Hurley,RTÉ sports presenter
Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
I think I do, I’ve always been fairly active. I think my parents were generally healthy when I was young and they probably passed a lot of that on to us.
How often do you exercise?
I play a bit of camogie, a bit of football and a bit of basketball. I’m exercising every day really. If I’m not training for a team sport, then I’m probably in the gym. My fad at the moment is spinning; I just love it. I got married this year so being tied up with the wedding, it was a bit difficult to get to training so I’ve gotten into the gym a bit more. I like to exercise, for me it’s a way of letting off steam.
Do you get your five a day?
It depends, if I’m off yes, I like to eat well when I’m at home. I’m always walking around with a piece of fruit and I like to get my veg at lunchtime. But if you’re travelling or at a match, it’s difficult to eat well.
Do you worry?
I don’t really, to be honest. I’m pretty laid back. My friends and family would probably tell me I’m a bit too laid back. My family has always been kind of happy-go-lucky. I like that attitude and I’ve tried to live like that. If you’re at a tense sporting occasion, then it’s nerves, but that’s a completely different story.
What do you do to relax?
I really enjoy playing golf. I like to get out in the air as much as I can. I’m really into reading. I’m in the middle of the Hunger Games series and Ive actually just finished Fifty Shades of Grey – like every other woman in Ireland. On honeymoon, I was sitting on the beach and I swear, every other woman beside me was reading it too. I’m on the third book.
What’s your unhealthiest habit?
Probably coffee and wine. I have a bad habit of a glass of wine on a Thursday night and on the weekend as well. I know they say one glass of red wine is good for you, but I don’t think they say the same about a bottle.
