* Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness Week continues until September 30th with free testing locations in major cities throughout Ireland. The most obvious symptoms of AMD are distortion and blurring in the centre of vision. To find a free testing location near you, tel: 01-649 6376 or see amd.ie.

* The Irish National Council of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Support Groups ( incadds.ie) is raising awareness of ADHD in adults this week. The organisation is also holding a seminar, ADHD in Adults, on Friday, October 5th from 9am-4pm in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

The seminar will look at psychological treatments for adults and research on substance misuse and ADHD. Advance booking on info@incadds.ie or tel: 091-0755090.

* The Dublin Harvest Festival goes ahead in Wolfe Tone Park, Jervis Street, Dublin, on Saturday from 11am-5pm. Organised by Dublin Community Growers, it will host workshops on beekeeping, jam-making, recycling and water conservation.

The vegetables, herbs and fruit grown in Dublin's community gardens will be given away to city residents in exchange for pledges to help out with their local community garden. Visitors can also swap surplus garden seeds for new varieties. See dublincommunity growers.ie

* Art Against Stigma is a public exhibition of work created in art centres linked to mental health units. It is on show in the Cowshed Gallery, Farmleigh Estate, on Thursday and Friday from noon to 4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

* Dancers will gather for a Day of Dance on Sunday, September 30th. The event is to raise funds for four-year-old Lily-Mae Morrison, above, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. It’s a chance for all ages to try out ballet, tango, pole-dancing, hula hooping and lots more in the Dancehouse in Foley St, Dublin 1 from 10am-6pm. ¼10 per class for adults; €5 per class for children.
