THE Trinity Horizon Project, an EU Horizon employment initiative, is a training and research programme focused on the particular needs of women recovering from depression who wish to enter or re enter the workplace.

A fundraising casino night for 11 month old Conor Green from Kilnamanagh in Dublin, who suffers from a rare form of dwarfism, will be held at the Mercantile Bar & Grill in Dame Street from 7.30 p.m. this Wednesday. Conor, who has Metatropic Dysplasia, needs £100,000 for life saving surgery in the US. One third of all sufferers of this illness die in infancy.

The event will be hosted by Conor's parents and Cyril O'Brien, owner of the Mercantile: tickets cost £50. Participants will be able to "gamble" on roulette and blackjack tables manned by professional croupiers. A seminar on "Compassionate Communication" for workers in the caring professions will be given by Dr Marshall Rosenberg at the premises of Nonviolent Communication (Ireland) in Sandycove, Dublin on June 29th. The seminar is being held in conjunction with the Department of Nursing Studies at UCD and will include training on how to communicate with others with compassion and empathy. THE Dublin Tallaght Branch of the Irish Diabetic Association is holding an information day in Cheeverstown House at Kilvare, Templeogue this Sunday 16th. The event begins at 2.30 p.m.

CEREBRAL Palsy Ireland and the Rehab Foundation have set up the CPI/Rehab Golfing society under the captaincy of Eamonn Darcy. Their first Charity Golf Classic will be held at the new Portmarnock Golf Links in Dublin on Monday week. Entering a team costs £500, which includes 18 holes of golf and a banquet. THE Disabled Drivers Association holds its annual "Bloomsweek event" on Sunday. The association will sell red roses for £1 on the day, to raise funds for the Ballindine Training Centre for the physically disabled, in Co Mayo.

THE residents of the O'Dwyer Cheshire Home at Lismirrane, Swinford, Co Mayo are currently raising funds for a much needed van. This Sunday they are organising a family walk in Castlebar, starting at 2 p.m.. An open air stage for musicians will be set up in the Mall, and Mid West Radio will broadcast the event.

The residents of the Cheshire home are all disabled and many need transport in order to attend Rehab and other activities. Chairman Pat Hallinan can be contacted for information at 094-84133.
