The first public meeting on men's cancers organised by the newly formed men's cancer support group MAC (Men Against Cancer), will take place in the Gresham Hotel, Dublin on Saturday from 2.30 - 5.30 p.m. All members of MAC have themselves been treated for these cancers (prostate and testicular). Specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of these cancers will address the meeting.
On Wednesday at 7.15 pm. there is a public lecture on Making Exam Stress Work For You. Organised by Aware, the lecture will be given by Dr Sinead O'Brien, Consultant Psychiatrist, Charlemont Clinics and Student Health Services, TCD, and will include topics such as positive stress management and balance in eating, recreation and sleep.

The Arthritis Foundation of Ireland is hosting a series of lectures in Dublin and Cork. This month there will be a lecture on Thursday 18th April at 8 p.m. on Communicating with Your Doctor and Your Employer about Your Arthritis by Dr Frances Stafford, Rheumatologist at the Education and Research Centre at St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin. In Cork, there will be a lecture on Osteoporosis on Wednesday 24th April at 8 p.m. at the Metropole Hotel. The speaker is Professor Moira O'Brien of TCD. Admission free. One in every 12 people in the Republic suffers from migraine, according to a recent survey. Attacks last between four and 72 hours, are suffered by twice as many women as men, and up to 85 per cent of sufferers do not seek medical help. A new free pamphlet for migraine sufferers is available from pharmacies.
Outreach Volunteers are needed to accompany victims of sexual assault and rape to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in the Rotunda Hospital. Volunteers should be at least 28 years old. Applications forms are available from The Director, Rape Crisis Centre, 70 Lr Leeson Street, Dublin 2.
