A WEEKEND workshop for young people aged 17 to 26 who have lost a parent or whose parents have divorced or separated will take place on February 16th to 18th. Organised by Young Adult Beginning Experience (YABE), a programme which originated in the US, the weekend is the second of its kind in Ireland and is run on a voluntary basis by members of YABE in Ireland. The weekend is not a religious retreat, but it does have a Christian foundation. Young people will be encouraged to share their hopes and concerns and express their feelings. MAKING the Right Moves is the title of a colourful new AIDS/HIV information booklet written by young people for young people. It was written and compiled by a group of 14 to 16 year olds from the Open Doors Programme operated by the Cork Youth Association and is being distributed nationwide through youth organisations and youth information centres. This accessible booklet is full of useful advice for teenagers on what safe sex really means. It was produced in conjunction with the National Youth Council of Ireland, the Department of Education Youth Affairs Section and the Department of Health.

MEN who have prostate problems can suffer from retention (where the bladder never empties itself fully of all the urine it contains, thus leading to the risk of infection). According to Prostate News, a new newsletter, retention can be alleviated by intermittent self catherisation. Studies in the US have shown that this form of treatment resulted in good continence for the majority of patients.
THE T'ai Chi Training Centre is offering a Foundation Course starting tonight and next Monday night at 7 p.m. This 12 week course introduces participants to three styles of Chinese health exercise systems T'ai Chi Qigong, T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Dayan "(Wild Goose) Qigong.
