A boycott of genetically engineered foods has been announced by health farms. In a statement, a representative group said the move was being made because of increasing concerns over recent reports of health risks claimed to be associated with genetically-engineered foodstuffs.
The Health Farms of Ireland Association pointed to an alleged failure of successive governments to implement what it called adequate safeguards in the genetics area. Spokesman Mr Dhara Kelly, who runs the Cloona Health Centre at Westport, Co Mayo, said the association represented most health farms in Ireland.
