A NUMBER of risk assessment seminars are being held this week to mark European week for safety and health at work, which starts today. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has called on businesses to carry out risk assessments of their workplaces.
"This will help a business comply with legislation, but most importantly will help to eliminate many of the unnecessary injuries and deaths in the workplace," said HSA chief executive Martin O'Halloran.
The HSA is holding a risk assessment seminar for employers tomorrow at Cork County Council's training centre in Ballincollig. The seminar begins at 8.30am and is due to finish at noon.
On Wednesday, the Irish Hotels Federation will host a seminar at the Meyrick Hotel, Eyre Square, Galway. A Small Firms' Association seminar will take place on Friday at Confederation House, Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2. Both seminars start at 9.30am and run until noon.
