District Court Judge John Coughlan has confirmed that a head shop based in a premises he owns in Naas will cease trading there from April 15th, writes Carol Coulter.

Last February it emerged that the premises he used for his legal practice before his appointment as a judge had been rented by the operators of a head shop called Happy Daze.

At the time he said he had allowed the premises be used as a venue for an alternative medicine centre, and had no idea of its use as a head shop.

Yesterday the judge said: “I am happy to confirm that my solicitors have agreed with the solicitors for the tenant that this business will cease trading with effect from April 15th, 2010, and vacant possession will be handed over on that date.
