Fianna Fβil's attempts to distance itself from former taoiseach Charlie Haughey have been more successful than previously thought. When his son, deputy Seβn Haughey, telephoned headquarters in Mount Street this week he was asked to spell his surname. Haughey Jnr told Quidnunc: "I assured her that the name was well-known in Fianna Fβil circles but to no avail. She insisted I spell it before she would take details of my query. I obliged and was then put on hold. A short time later, the receptionist told me there was no one in the office to take my call."
