Mr Edward Haughey, Fianna Fail spokesman on the North, said the House Committee on Procedure and Privileges should consider an invitation, as a gesture of goodwill, to Mr David Trimble to address the Seanad.
Mr Maurice Manning (FG) said all members would note with great satisfaction and relief the march of events north of the Border. For the first time in Northern Ireland, all the groups were working within a parliamentary structure and all had guarantees within that structure.
Mr Joe Costello (Labour) said it had been a wonderful week and they all looked forward to a wonderful future.
Mr John Dardis (PD), deputy Government leader in the House, said four or five years ago even the most optimistic senator could hardly have contemplated nationalists and unionists, republicans and loyalists sitting together in one Executive.
