Companies in western and Border counties are set to benefit from a €9 million venture capital fund announced today.
Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Ms Harney today announced the setting up of the fund, which will be managed by the Enterprise Equity Capital Group in Galway city.
The fund will support existing companies and early stage start-ups with high export-growth potential.
"This new fund is part of the roll-out of a major injection of liquidity into the venture capital market by Enterprise Ireland (EI) which I announced in January", Ms Harney said.
"The support of a positive venture capital market is vital to the development of business. It is also important that the private sector should become the lead players in providing such important funding at those critical points in the development of successful export-driven business," she said.
