Naseem Hamed's trainer Oscar Suarez has backed his man to bounce back from his only professional loss in explosive fashion tomorrow night.
Hamed takes on Spain's Manuel Calvo for the vacant IBO title at London Arena, 13 months after suffering the first and only loss on his 36-fight record to Marco Antonio Barrera in Las Vegas.
Suarez and the 28-year-old Sheffield fighter insist he can right the wrongs of that painful night and already have the accomplished Mexican in their sights for revenge.
Suarez said: "Naseem is going to show everybody on Saturday what he should have showed them against Barrera.
"Naz was ready for Barrera that night but only God knows what happened. Naz was not at his best that night _ but you did see the best of Barrera.
"Barrera cannot go to another level but Naz can. And Barrera knows that whatever he tries next time, he is going to get knocked out."
Barrera fights his Mexican rival Erik Morales for Morales' WBC featherweight title next month.
And Hamed insists his conqueror remains top of his agenda whatever the result against Morales.
"Barrera is the only person who is still on my mind," said Hamed. "There is no way I will retire before he gets beaten by me, and he will get beaten by me. You will never see me fighting him like I did that night."
"I know exactly what I did wrong. A lot of it was about what I set my mind on doing. I'll never set my mind on that again."
Calvo is regarded as a rather risk-free opponent given his lack of power, and did not find favour with Hamed's American backers Home Box Office, who will broadcast highlights.
But he is the reigning European champion and boasts a 38-fight record with 33 wins and no inside-the-distance defeats.
The 34-year-old, who does not put his own belt on the line in this fight, said: "Naseem Hamed is a very good fighter but I am very confident about this fight. I am very strong and I believe I can stop his plans and win."
