Dublin hackney drivers will bring a protest march to the gates of the Dail today in protest at what they say are discriminatory and restrictive licensing laws.
Mr Joe Smith of the Irish Cab Drivers' Association, which claims to represent 600 hackney drivers, says the protest is to highlight both the inadequacy of proposed new identification tags and the fact that, unlike taxis, hackneys are not allowed to use bus lanes.
The ICDA has threatened to escalate protest in the run up to Christmas and to protest in their cars every Friday after today.
